The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a fastback coupe that’s designed to bridge the performance gap between the GT & Shelby models. That’s just like the original models that provided improved dynamics & handing through a number of different packages over the years and back-to-back wins in big races.
2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Performance
The epitome of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is what’s under the hood. Powering this model is a specially calibrated 5.0L V8 that's projected to deliver 480 hp & 420 lb/ft of torque and comes standard with the Shelby GT350's Tremec 3160 6-speed manual transmission that features rev-matching, the GT350's oil cooler system, the GT's twin-disc clutch & the GT's short-throw shifter.
Also available to be paired with this engine is 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with an upgraded torque converter, unique calibration and a second air-to-oil cooler to improve performance. Either way, this 5.0L V8 gives you revamped Shelby GT350 components like the intake manifold, oil filter adapter & engine oil cooler.
Other features offered for the Mustang Mach 1 that help provide a thrilling ride include:

- Shelby GT500's rear axle cooling system, lower diffuser & rear-toe link

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Design
The Mach 1 version of the 2021 Ford Mustang will bring a signature look to Union County NJ that combines aggression & functionality. That’s evident through the use of appearance cues playing that dual role such as:
- 2-piece upper grille, lower grille & valance with a deep 3-D mesh, shark-nosed section & faux lamp elements
- New side grilles below each turn signal lamp
- Front splitter optimized into the fascia shape
- 9.5”/10” split fitment 5-spoke Tarnished Dark-painted aluminum wheels that resemble the classic Magnum 500 style wheels
- Low-gloss Magnetic rear spoiler
Speaking of low-gloss Magnetic, that burst of color can also be seen in the outside mirror caps & pony badge located in the center of the grille. Not to mention other accents throughout the vehicle in that color as well as black.
If you opt for the Handling Package, you can get downforce improvement that jumps to about 150% compared to the regular production Mustang. Exclusive to Tremec manual transmission models, this bundle also gives you these design features:
- Larger unique higher downforce front splitter
- New front wheel lip moldings
- Low-gloss Magnetic swing spoiler with a Gurney flap
- Wider 19”x10.5” front & 19”x11” rear Tarnished Dark-painted aluminum wheels
