If you loved the way Ford incorporated aluminum body components into the 2015 F-150, you’re going to love Ford’s 2017 lineup of heavy duty trucks coming to our Union County, New Jersey location. Ford took the aluminum door panels of the F-150 a bit further—by making the entire body aluminum! This will save weight for these huge trucks and deliver on the much-improved towing and hauling numbers Ford has promised.
What else is new about the 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks, comprised of the F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550?
Higher Body, Better Cab, Improved Design.
The Ford trucks for 2017 will be an inch higher than Ford’s current F-Series trucks. This is because they only offer one cab for all three beds—which gives more room in the cab and the ability to fold the second-row seating totally flat to accommodate your storage. Ford even offers a collapsible in-floor storage box in some models. The cab offers 170-degree folding doors in the Super cab option, minimizing things in your way when loading.
The design of the 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks is sleek and modern—including boxy fenders that stand out, four low-beam headlights and four high-beam headlights, all LED. This design for the headlights is unique and sharp-looking for your brand new truck. The steel frame has been improved to accommodate the aluminum body: the frame is actually 24 times stiffer than what’s currently available from Ford.
2017 Ford F-Series Technology Enhancements.
The new technology that Ford has been able to get in its current vehicles has crossed over to the 2017 line of Super Duty trucks from Ford. This means these big trucks will have adaptive cruise control with collision mitigation and cross-traffic alert, so in case a vehicle is coming into your lane, your truck will be able to sense it and alert you, enabling you to avoid the crash. The trucks also come with blind-spot warning, and this works with whatever you’re towing also.
The 7cameras that this truck includes all filter into one screen, so you can see you’re safe before you go. Of the seven cameras, five of these are aimed towards your haul, so no matter what precious cargo you’re carrying, you can ensure it’s safe your entire ride. The 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks come with BoxLink cargo management system, a remote tailgate control (enabling you to lock, unlock, or drop your tailgate), and inflatable seat belts, keeping you protected in the event of a collision.
While the engines remain largely similar to what’s available today, Ford has promised that the engines will be more powerful. The suspension and axles have been upgraded, as well as the horsepower and torque of these 2017 trucks, although we’re still waiting on numbers. Ford still offers its gas 6.8L V10 engine for the F-450 and F-550 models, but of course also offers its diesel Powerstroke 6.7L V8. You’ll also have the option to get the 6.2L V8 with TorqShift. The stronger frame combined with better brakes, lighter body, and improved suspension and transmission make this truck a must-see for 2017.
Although not hitting showrooms until sometime next year, we’re excited to see what numbers Ford releases for these powerful trucks. We’re also interested to see how the competition will keep up!
