Although not available until next fall, our friends at Ford have taken the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor for a test drive in the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, which rest north of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The 2017 Raptor appears to have lots of traction when taking on different terrains, especially in the sand dunes, although the new Raptor may have been shown with the Torsen limited-slip differential (LSD), which will be optional on the new Raptor.
The Raptor seemingly glides over the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, probably helped along by its awesome horsepower and maybe even a little tire deflation to accommodate the sandy terrain.
This summer an engineering prototype of the all-new 2017 F-150 Raptor tackled the dunes at Silver Lake, Mich., State Park. Redesigned, larger FOX Racing Shox with more suspension travel and all-new terrain management technology help F-150 Raptor tackle the toughest of surfaces. An available Torsen front differential increases off-road capability further. The system increases grip significantly for the front end of the truck and allows it to pull itself over obstacles and up steep grades – even when traction is split between the front tires. The all-new 2017 Raptor is powered by Ford’s new, second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine. The 2017 F-150 Raptor goes on sale in Fall 2016.
While we’ve yet to hear too much information about the 2017 Raptor, we do know that Ford is putting these trucks through some serious testing to make sure they can handle everything their owners will put them through. It may also have a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine with some impressive output.
We’re also hoping the interior will improve the sound from the V6 exhaust with some good sound equipment inside, but no news of the interior for the 2017 Raptor yet!
With its built-in fender flares and updated bumper, this truck has an even wider look than before. The 10-speed automatic transmission comes in addition to the 411 horsepower the truck will have.
At Salerno Duane Ford, we’re excited to check out the new 2017 Ford Raptor in NJ. Come order yours with us next fall when they become available, and take this powerful truck for outings in sand dunes, forests, and well, whatever else you think of!
